Reservation Policies
CHECK-IN REQUIREMENTS
Guests must be 21 or older to book a room. It is your responsibility to ensure the accuracy of all names and guests when making the reservation. All reservations and registrations must be guaranteed with a valid major credit card. We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, and Discover Card. Cash (USD) payment is welcomed with a signed and pre charged credit card in the amount of $250.
CHECK-IN TIME – 3 p.m.
Guests may arrive from 3pm to 9pm for check-in. Guests may contact the front desk for earlier or later check-in. Early check-in cannot be guaranteed. Please let Front Desk know if you would like an early check-in. Based upon availability, we will do our best to accommodate. Early check-in fees may apply.
CHECK-OUT – 11:00 a.m.
Check-out time is 11 a.m. Please check-out with Front Desk so that housekeeping may begin cleaning your room as soon as possible. If you require a later check-out, please contact Front Desk prior to the day of your departure and we will do our best to accommodate your request. A charge may apply for late check-out.
AUTHORIZATION AT CHECK-IN
All credit/debit cards are charged the full amount of the reservation at check-in. You will be asked to provide a valid government or state-issued ID at check-in for security purposes.
GIFT CERTIFICATES & PREPAID BOOKINGS
Please contact the hotel directly to purchase or redeem gift certificates (209) 267-0242. A credit card may be required to complete the reservation.
Cancellation Policies
CANCELLATION
We know that the best laid plans can sometimes go awry, if you must cancel your reservations, please note the following:
- Reservations must be canceled three (3) days prior to your arrival date, in order to avoid a one (1) night full room cancellation fee. If reservations are canceled less than 72 hours before the arrival date, your credit card will be charged the full room charge plus taxes. If you are staying more than one (1) night, only the first night and taxes will be charged. If you cancel any reservation, you must obtain and save the cancellation number for your records.
- “No shows” or early check outs will be charged the full rate of the full stay.
- If multiple rooms are reserved through a group contract, the policies noted in that contract will apply.
THIRD PARTY CANCELLATION
If you have made your reservation through a third party such as Expedia or Booking.com all changes and cancellation must be made through these parties. Hotel Sutter is unable to cancel or change any reservations made through third parties.
Hotel Services
FREE WiFi ACCESS
Access to our WiFi is free for our registered guests. WiFi signals are subject to change without notice depending on the room’s location, the status of our WiFi-equipment, and interference from other local wireless signals. Hotel Sutter assumes no liability for guest use.
HOUSEKEEPING
Your comfort is very important to us. For guests staying multiple nights, Housekeeping is provided on a rotation schedule. If Housekeeping is unable to change a bed due to personal items left on a bed, a note will be left. If you would like Housekeeping more often, please let the Front Desk staff know.
Rooms are sanitized and thoroughly cleaned between each reservation. Any questions or concerns regarding cleaning protocols or requesting additional items can be handled by Front Desk during your stay.
PARKING
As Hotel Sutter was built before the automobile and our original guests brought their transportation (horses) into their rooms, our parking lot is limited and provided on a first come basis. Additional parking is available on the side residential streets, behind the City Auditorium, and at the far end of town. Please read and follow all city parking signs. Hotel Sutter is not responsible for guests parking in non-parking areas or violating parking signs.
All vehicle(s) must be listed on the registration at check-in even if a guest is parking outside of Hotel Sutter’s parking lot. Parking for registered guest(s) is free. All vehicles are parked at the risk of the owner. Hotel Sutter shall not assume liability or responsibility for any vehicle, occupants, or contents while operated or parked on or near the hotel property. If a vehicle is left in the hotel parking lot after the guest has departed without the written consent of the hotel, the hotel reserves the right to have the vehicle towed at the owner’s expense. No vehicle repairs on hotel premises.
LOST & FOUND POLICY
If you discover that you have left behind something of value to you, please call us immediately (209) 267-0242 and we will try to assist you in locating your lost item. Hotel Sutter assumes no liability for lost, misplaced, stolen, or damaged valuables or belongings.
SPECIAL REQUESTS
We will make every effort to honor special requests such as a specific floor or room number, roll-away bed, refrigerator, microwave, etc. upon your arrival. All special requests are noted on reservations and we will do our best to accommodate. However, the availability of these items are limited and cannot be guaranteed. Roll-away beds and refrigerators are available upon request and are charged at the rate of $10 per night per item as available.

PET POLICY
While we love pets, pets are not allowed within Hotel Sutter.
SERVICE ANIMALS
Hotel Sutter follows all ADA laws pertaining to Service Animals. ADA states: Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support DO NOT qualify as service animals under the ADA. Service animal is defined as “any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability.” Under the ADA, service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless these devices interfere with the service animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents these devices.
CHILDREN
Well behaved children of all ages are welcomed. Children aged 12 and under stay for free when sharing a room with one or more paying adult(s), using existing bedding. As the parents, guardians, or chaperones of children you are personally and legally responsible for and must supervise them at all times. For safety reasons, please do not leave children unattended in guest rooms or allow them to roam the hotel property unsupervised.

QUIET HOURS
Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. to 9 a.m.
MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY
Standard room maximum occupancy is 2, with select rooms maximum occupancy at 4. If you exceed the maximum number of guests allowed, you will be asked to rent another guest room for proper accommodations or vacate the hotel.
ALCOHOL POLICY
Registered guests of legal age who choose to bring their own alcoholic beverages must consume them in their room. Outside alcohol is not allowed in public areas such as the lobby, halls, restaurant, etc. Alcohol consumed during special events is restricted to those 21 years old or older (valid photo identification required) and can only be consumed at that event venue. If guests under 21 years of age are found consuming alcohol they will be asked to leave and no refund given. Law enforcement will also be notified of any under age drinking.
100% SMOKE-FREE
Hotel Sutter is 100% Smoke-Free. For safety and to assure that our facility is not exposed to items or actions that create an odor which is unhealthy and objectionable to our guests and staff, and that is difficult to remove from the air, carpet, walls, and furniture. We do not permit smoking tobacco, marijuana, illegal drugs, e-cigarettes, vape pens, vaping, cartridges containing the liquid of nicotine, hookahs, incense, cooking, cigars, or candle burning. A minimum cleaning fee of $250 will be levied if any guest violates this policy and the guest may be asked to leave with no refunds.
RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE
Hotel Sutter is privately owned and operated. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason(s) that does not violate Federal or State laws. Hotel Sutter has a zero tolerance policy in which we will refuse to admit or refuse service or accommodation in our hotel or may remove a person, without refund, who refuses to abide by the reasonable standards and policies established by the State of California and the owners for the operation and management of the hotel. Hotel Sutter will refuse service or evict a guest: for refusal or failure to pay for accommodations, is under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any other intoxicating substance and acts in a disorderly fashion as to disturb the peace of other guests or is not in compliance with state liquor laws; acts in a disorderly fashion as to disturb the peace of other guests; is unable to properly supervise their children at all times, seeks to use the hotel for an unlawful purpose; seeks to bring into the hotel: an unlawfully possessed firearm; or item(s), including an explosive or hazardous or toxic substance, that is unlawful to possess and that may be dangerous to other persons; destroys, damages, defaces, or threatens harm to hotel property, guests or staff; causes or permits persons to exceed the maximum allowable occupancy of room, refuses to abide by the reasonable standards or policies established by Hotel Sutter for the operation and management of our hotel.
NO IN-ROOM PARTIES
Hotel Sutter enforces a No In-Room Party Policy to ensure we can protect the hotel and our guests at all times. No parties, loud disturbances and/or noise-nuisance are allowed or tolerated on these premises. In the event of a disturbance, one request (warning) will be given to reduce the noise. If our request is not followed, the guest will be asked to leave the hotel without refund. Registered guest(s) are responsible for all persons visiting. Non-Registered visitors are only permitted until 10:00 P.M. If found with more “people” not listed on the Guest Registration Form after 10:00 P.M. your stay will be considered a party. You will be ordered to vacate the premises without refund and may be assessed Guest Compensation Disturbance Fee.
DAMAGE AND/OR THEFT OF HOTEL PROPERTY
Make-up removers are supplied at no additional charge for the easy removal of make-up from guests persons and the reduction of stains to our linens. In the rare event that a room or its contents are damaged due to extreme guests negligence, we reserve the right to assess a cleaning or replacement charge equal to the fee needed to resolve the damage. Bodily fluids such as vomit causing excessive cleaning or replacement of linens, towels, pillows, mattresses, etc. will result in a minimum of $250 fee. Damage to mattresses and linen including; towels, mattress pads, sheets, bedspreads, or blankets resulting from the use of body oils, make-up, shoe-polish, etc. will result in a charge for the special cleaning, repair, or replacement of the damaged article.
